SERVICES
The facility offers two types of services. The first
service is our affordable high quality DNA sequencing service.
Investigators can provide DNA ( plasmid, phage or PCR product) and primer
for full service DNA sequencing. The
Facility operates with the ABI PRISM 3100 Genetic Analyzer
. This capillary-based system has the ability to run 16 separate
sequencing reactions every 2 1/2 hours. We are currently using the POP4
80 cm arrays offering read lengths of up to 800 bp .
In addition, we have an ABI 377 slab gel sequencer serving as a backup.
This instrument is capable of running 96 samples in 3 hours and read
lengths of up to 600 bp .
The second service is our Tail PCR Analysis service.
Investigators can deliver tail samples, materials and protocol directly
to the facility for processing. The
facility will purify DNA from the tail, run sample on a gel and then
provide a photo of the gel for you to determine your positive animals.
You will also get your PCR-ready tail DNA back.
