What is the Blueprint for Neurosciences Research Grant?
This grant supports core technology facilities for researchers studying the nervous system. The NIH Blueprint for Neuroscience Research brings the 16 NIH Institutes, Centers and Offices that support neuroscience research into a collaborative framework to coordinate their ongoing efforts and to plan new cross-cutting initiatives. By pooling resources and expertise, the Blueprint aims to accelerate neuroscience research and to reduce the burden of nervous system disorders.
What is the La Jolla Interdisciplinary Neurosciences Center?
The La Jolla Interdisciplinary Neurosciences Center brings together over 100 laboratories from the four San Diego institutions by expanding the range of core services and by allowing investigators access to many of each other's Core Facilities. By making these important Core Services available to the local Neuroscience community, the La Jolla Neurosciences Program hope to promote the study of how the nervous system works and develop treatments for nervous system diseases.
The Blueprint for Neurosciences Research is led by Stuart Lipton, M.D., Ph.D., Director of the Center for Neuroscience, Aging and Stem Cell Research at the Burnham Institute for Medical Research, and Stephen Heinemann, Ph.D., Professor in the Molecular Neurobiology Laboratory of the Salk Research Institute.
